Introducing Chassis Engineering Surfacing:
The First Course of Its Kind at MS3D
Every Alias course around the internet worldwide teaches you to make a body surface look clean and detailed. None of them teach you what happens next: the moment your surface meets engineering, and has to survive hardpoints, package space, production and a manufacturing engineer asking hard questions.
Most Alias surface designers think they don't need to learn anything about engineering because they are not an enginner but the truth is as you should know about how to read sketches (what we cover at Alfa Romeo GTL course) so you should know about engineering too.
Without understanding reflections and shadows of a sketch, you can not create correct reflections on the body of a car exterior in 3d software. Sketchers and designers drop a shadow, you should understand whats behind and how that surface flows to create that shadow regarding position and direction of a light. You have to understand different kind of lights like point light, directional light, spherical light, rectangular light, etc.
As there is a gap between sketches and 3d surface modelers, so there is another gap between surface modelers and engineers who work on prototypes and production of surfaces and bodies. The gap causes rework and time consuming revisions and misunderstanding of dimensions and chassis. Even in some cases it might collapse the whole project and move the design to a direction that is done by force not from inspiration and freedom of ideation.
That's the gap this course was built to close.
The First Course of Its Kind
This is the first course we've built or even seen around the world dedicated entirely to chassis and underbody surfacing with Autodesk Alias from an engineering perspective. It is considered as an Advance course in the library of MS3D Academy courses.
Don't Let Engineers Change Your Work
This course exists for different group of people:
- A modeler or designer who is tired of infiniti revisions from egineering team
- A modeler or designer want to learn about chassis modeling and related parts
- An engineer following his journey in 3d design and modeling with Autodesk Alias
- Anyone interested in learning the complete design process from idea to product
Good Lessons, Built on Real Problems!
As mentor of MS3D Academy has experiences working on chassis design and modeling of different hypercars during different projects, lessons are built on real probelms and challenges of a project.
100% Online, Take Your Time.
Like every MS3D course, this one is fully online. There are no fixed class times to worry about and no travel cost and time waste. Structured, project based lessons you move through at your own pace, with lifetime access after purchasing.
Chassis Engineering Surfacing for Design Studios launches on January 2027 with a limited cost of €450 (down from original €600) for pre-orders.
