Advanced lessons focused on scan data tools, mesh management, modifications, and body kits for production. Concept body kit design and reverse engineering methods are also covered.
In this course you will learn how to create a new car tuning part in Autodesk Alias with respect to a provided scan data. After some chapters teaching you what is scan data, how to fit curves to it and how to create a NURBS model for production by following a sample (full project). The sample for this part is Kia K5 and you will work on Front Lip, Side Skirt, Rear Diffuser and Rear Spoiler and a Veloster spoiler. After completing these 5 parts you are now able to work on different body kits and tuning parts in Alias in order to make them ready for production i.e. Fiberglass, CNC process, 3D print, etc.
Reverse engineering is the name of a 3D modeling method that means creating surfaces with respect to a scan data or a reference mesh with defined dimensions. In this case, you can never create curves easily and only 1 millimeter tolerance may cause disappointments. In this part of the wide body kits and tuning parts course, you are going to learn how to do reverse engineering in order to recreate a bumper, fender or anything else in Alias NURBS. Matching surfaces and curves is very important and there are special tools and analysis for that! We will try a few parts of a Mini John Cooper Works car.
Creating a body kit or a new part for face lift or tuned cars with the help of Nurbs modeling is actually hard as you may need to watch the whole design at one time before you finalize everything or you want to change the design but it's very hard and time consuming process. Most of the time, surfaces and flows need to be changed and this can done easily through Subdivision modeling. The hardest challenge at this point is to have a reference and try to make a design based on the reference. References can be sketches, photos, ideas or any kind of designs which are sensible.
More about Production Modelling
One of the fields that Autodesk Alias modelers can work in is body kits and tuning parts 3D modeling. Design studios and brands working on wide body kits need Alias digital designers to create their designs in 3D so they can produce the parts with fiberglass, carbon fiber, CNC, 3D print, etc. Tuning parts are mostly something that can be added to existing car parts in order to change the design and make it look aggressive, classic, etc. Some of them affects car performance too. Challenges for Alias designers in body kits modeling are three things; taking care of the design, taking care of dimensions and constraints and taking care of connections and surface quality. Production Alias modeling course includes 7 chapters and 13 videos ; introduction and basic tutorial, modeling tutorials of Kia K5 wide body kit modeling and a Veloster spoiler. K5 Tuning parts include front lip, side skirt, rear spoiler and diffuser. All the process from zero is recorded in Full HD. You will also receive sample scan data files along with the course contents. Alias preferences set is also provided so you will never face any problem following Alias video tutorials. Basic Alias modelling tutorials are included and you can check them out for FREE after a free sign up. The contents are more than 15 hours and you can complete the course in less than 2 weeks. After completing the course you can send us your final work and get a valid certification from us.

Need Explanation for some body kit video tutorials not just BGM video when molding the body kit.
