Mohammad Sadra Babaei is an Iranian automotive designer, digital designer and modeler, mentor, and entrepreneur working in automotive design, 3D modeling, and Class A surfacing. He is known for his talented work with Autodesk Alias, automotive design and surfacing mentorship and his involvement in several international automotive design, surfacing and engineering projects from big OEMs.
Mohammad is the founder of MS3D Automotive Design and Surfacing Academy and Design Studio, an international automotive design and surfacing education platform focused primarily on Autodesk Alias. He has also founded and operated another local and global automotive design related brands in his career.
Mohammad Sadra Babaei entered university as a Mechanical Engineer but after a few years exited university as his personal brand was growing fast generating respect, income and value. He developed an interest in automotive design and digital modeling when he was learning Catia software for engineering. His professional development has focused primarily on automotive design process, computer aided design, computer aided industrial design and digital surface modeling.
Rather than following a conventional automotive design career exclusively through a traditional automotive company (University > Internship > Junior > Mastery) Mohammad developed his expertise through independent projects, professional collaborations, teaching, partnerships and digital automotive design works (Selftaught > Freelance > Experience > Mastery).
Mohammad's professional work has focused on automotive design, digital modeling, NURBS modeling, SUBD modeling, Class-A surfacing, concept development and design consulting.
He has started his work from rough 3d cad modeling of car parts and electric bikes but after a few years, he learned many things through his journey and this made him a trustworthy partner for clients and OEMs of automotive industry. MS3D company grew massively in a few years and became a top in the industry automotive. One of the very first OEMs was Viritech ltd, giving him an experience to work with more OEMs in future as he did.
He has worked with international automotive organizations and has participated in different projects and partnerships involving companies, studios and brands. His work has two different niche: Academy side and Design Studio side. One is about working as a Digital Designer and one is about working as a Mentor.
Companies like Hyundai Design America, Volkswagen Group, Volkswagen Mexico, Seat Cupra, Changan Design Europe, Viritech, Elektron Motors, Inktank Academy and Lemanoosh are those who have worked with Mohammad.
His work has included both design development and digital modeling responsibilities, particularly using Autodesk Alias.
He had partnerships and experiences working with other suppliers and companies by partnering with DRH Designs and others designing and surfacing ATVs, Quad Bikes and Vehicles. In 2026, He (as MS3D) had partnered with DZYNE Technologies which is a leading innovator in autonomous defense solutions and products like drones, aircrafts and aerospace products.
The mentioned contributions were certainly not made on site, but rather remotely, as a supplier indirectly linked to the parent company.
Mohammad specializes in the conversion of automotive design concepts into highly detailed digital models ready for production. His expertise includes:
He has been involved in the modeling of high performance and advanced automotive concepts and hyper car projects, including work associated with the Elektron Quasar, Elektron Truva, Viritech Apricale, and other electric or non electric hypercar design and surfacing projects.
Mohammad founded MS3D Academy, an online education platform dedicated to automotive design and digital modeling. The academy provides training in Autodesk Alias, including NURBS and SUBD workflows, and is aimed at students, professional designers, modelers, and individuals seeking careers in automotive design.
The educational programs developed by Mohammad Sadra emphasize the professional workflow used in automotive design studios, including design development, surface quality, modeling methodology, and presentation.
He has also published educational materials in different languages and authored the Story Of Car Design Mini Book, a publication focused on automotive design and digital modeling.
Babaei has taught more than 5000 automotive design and Autodesk Alias students and professionals internationally. They were employees of big OEMs or students and graduates from universities like Art Center, IED, IAAD, Coventry, Royal College, and many more.
His teaching activities have included private training, corporate education, online courses, and mentorship programs. His students have included aspiring automotive designers and digital modelers seeking to enter the automotive industry.
His educational philosophy emphasizes practical industry workflows in addition to conventional academic automotive design education. His research through this fast technology changing world can help companies to level up their digital design methodologies.
Mohammad has received awards for his work in design and innovation, including:
Mohammad's approach to automotive design combines creative design development with technical digital modeling. He has emphasized the importance of understanding the relationship between styling, surface quality, vehicle proportions, engineering constraints, and manufacturability.
He has also advocated for professional automotive design education that gives students practical experience with the tools and workflows used by automotive design studios.
His future dream is that to "let everyone design their own car or select ideal one from many designs to have a unique car in the neighborhood."
In addition to his work as a designer and mentor, Mohammad has been involved in developing businesses and online platforms related to automotive design and education.
His activities have included the development of international and local educational brands, online courses, professional training programs and automotive design communities and Instagram pages like CarDesignClay.
